Frequently asked questions

Career Direction Consultation

How is this different from mentoring?

The consultation addresses one bounded situation and ends with a direction and next move. Mentoring is recurring and develops transformation through practice, feedback, application, and responsibility over time.

The consultation must deliver complete value on its own. There is no obligation to enter mentoring afterward.

What kind of situation can I bring?

A promotion, offer, counteroffer, negotiation, decision to stay or leave, company change, leadership transition, positioning problem, progression block, or a professional impasse that is still difficult to name.

Do I need to know exactly what the problem is?

No. You need to describe what happened and what you know today. Separating the real problem from the first interpretation is part of the consultation.

What happens during the session?

We organize facts, assumptions, emotion, constraints, and the people involved. We then make alternatives and consequences explicit, define criteria, and reach a direction and next move.

Will you tell me what to do?

I may recommend what I would do and explain why. I will challenge assumptions and point out risks, but the final decision and execution remain yours.

Is one session enough?

It is designed to produce a useful direction for one bounded situation. Some uncertainty may remain, but you should leave knowing what justifies action, what to do next, and which evidence would justify reconsidering the decision.

Do you review résumés or LinkedIn profiles?

I may look at material briefly when it is necessary to understand the situation. I do not sell résumé writing, specialized LinkedIn optimization, recruitment, or unlimited material production.

Do you guarantee a promotion, salary, or job?

No. Those outcomes depend on companies and factors the consultation cannot control. My commitment is to the quality of the diagnosis, judgment, and direction produced during the session.

One session to organize a real situation, choose a direction, and define the next move.
